Valley Vista Services Field Trip

Recycling Volunteer Trip.jpg

This morning, the SMS-CASA Chinese Student Association visited the Valley Vista Services recycling facility, and the whole experience was both exciting and rewarding—a total success! Through the guided tour, students learned not only how our community’s trash and recyclables are processed, but also got to see firsthand how machines sort paper, plastic, and metal with impressive efficiency.

In addition to the basic recycling process and how to properly use the green organic waste bins, students also picked up a lot of useful knowledge about organic waste recycling. They discovered that food scraps, veggie peels, and fruit rinds aren’t just trash—they can actually be turned into compost, which eventually becomes nutrient-rich soil for farms and gardens. Super eco-friendly!

This field trip gave students a deeper understanding of how recycling works in real life and sparked more awareness about sustainable living. A big thank you to Valley Vista for their warm hospitality, and to all the parents and students who participated. We look forward to organizing more fun and educational activities and STEM projects in the future!

Badminton Club Wraps Up the Semester with a Smash!

5/2 – Badminton Club Wraps Up the Semester with a Smash!

Our badminton club closed out the semester with an exciting and heartwarming series of matches. Huge thanks to our coaches and high school student coaches for organizing:
    •    Boys’ Singles Finals
    •    Boys’ and Girls’ Doubles Finals
    •    Parent-Child Match
    •    Mixed Doubles Exhibition Match

The matches were intense and thrilling, keeping both players and spectators on the edge of their seats. Parents were fully engaged, and the Parent-Child match was a wonderful opportunity to strengthen family bonds through sport. The Mixed Doubles exhibition by the high school coaches wowed our younger students and showed them the full potential of badminton!

A special shoutout to Alvin, president of the Chinese Parent Association, who stayed up late to handcraft the trophies presented to our winners — such a meaningful gesture!

We’re deeply grateful to Coaches Camille and Rex, as well as our dedicated high school student coaches, for planning and leading weekly training sessions. And of course, heartfelt thanks to our amazing parents for their constant support — from preparing weekly snacks to providing a delicious buffet today that made this final day extra special.

Earth Day Celebration Volunteer Opportunity

EATHER DAY CELEBRATION Volunteer Opportunity-- Saturday, April 19 @10:00 AM to 2:00 PM Susan Middle School Chinese Parent Association (SMS CAPA), Chinese Student Association (CASA) and Parent Association organized sewing class team will set up a stall with the American Cancer Society to participate in Earth Day activities on Saturday, April 19, 2025, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at AQMD parking lot in Diamond Bar.
During this event, we will promote the bottle and can recycling program in cooperation with the Cancer Prevention Association. At the same time, we will have a charity sale of environmentally friendly handicraft bags made by sewing class students using recycled fabrics. This is not only a good opportunity to practice environmental protection and public welfare, but also a demonstration of students' creativity and heart.
We are very much in need of more parents and student volunteers to join us in completing this meaningful activity. The Parent-Teacher Association will also provide volunteer hours for participating students to encourage their participation and contribution. We hope everyone will actively participate and do their part for the Earth!
